Mr. SHEN is General Techology Manager of the Department of Business Development and International Cooperation of CNNC. He has been working in the nuclear field for more than 30 years and most of his time is dedicated to international cooperation and the promotion of nuclear technology applications.
- In international cooperation project management.
In the 31-year work in international cooperation and with visits of more than 60 countries, (incl. 7 months’ stay in France and 5 months in Argentina), he has been in charge of the R & D cooperation with French CEA for more than 20 years and managed to develop more than 150 cooperation projects. He had also contributed to the nuclear power project discussion between CNNC and NASA (Argentina) in developing the related project agreements and contract for one PWR reactor project. As the chief negotiator of the Chinese side and DDG of CAEA for international cooperation, he succeeded in concluding the big nuclear deal in 2018 between China and Russia, including 4 PWR reactors and one fast reactor project worthy of around 100 billion Chinese Yuan. - In promoting nuclear technology applications to the promotion of the development of nuclear technology applications (the non-power uses). He had served as senior adviser to IAEA DG as a member of IAEA’s SAGNA from March 2019 to December 2023, and now chairman of the international committee of China Isotope and Radiation Association. As the chief project manager, he organized the compilation of the first ever report in China on nuclear technology applications (Report on Advances in Application of Nuclear Technologies in 2016-2017 (China Science and Technology Press, 2018). He is also an active member of the Steering Committee of IAEA’s conference ICARST since its first meeting in 2017 by providing guiding advice and consultative support.
